Not being in the news everyday certainly does not make the problems go away. Communities will be suffering for years to come from the destruction of Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Lee, the Wildfires of Texas and the flooding in North Dakota.
On Friday, January 20, 2012 HUD (U.S. Housing and Urban Development) awarded 400 million dollars to eight states as part of a recovery plan from the natural disasters of 2011.
New York–$93,213,963
North Dakota–$79,358,648
Alabama–$55,566,078
Missouri–$53,985,768
Pennsylvania–$49,297,140
Texas–$31,319,686
Vermont–$21,660,211
New Jersey–$15,598,506
The funds will go to meeting long-term housing, business and infrastructure needs that are not being met by other sources of financial assistance.
